Integrated Drugs Services

What is the Integrated Drugs Service?

The Integrated Drug Service (IDS) offers an easy to access, responsive assessment for people who have a drug misuse problem. After the initial baseline assessment, the IDS team will discuss the next step with you. This may mean referral on to others for:

  • a more in-depth assessment, particularly if you are likely to need a prescription such as methadone
  • a co-ordinated care / support plan that is agreed with each individual service user
  • support in addressing other issues (e.g. housing, employment, health etc)
  • a key worker to help manage your treatment and support

In Dumfries, this front line service is provided by our Sunrise Project [Find Us]. In the Stewartry (including Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright), the service is operated from our main office in Castle Douglas [Find Us].

How do I refer myself / someone else?

1. Referring Agents - direct to the local office

This can be done directly by completing a basic assessment form and sending or faxing it to the local office concerned. Alternatively, please phone the office where the details will be taken over the phone.

2. Service Users can self-refer directly to the local office.

Service users can attend the local office and arrange for an assessment to be carried out. Please phone us in advance to organise a suitable time.

Who should I contact?

This depends on where the service user normally lives.
