Home Support Services

What is Home Support?

This service is approved by Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Services, and registered with the Care Commisson. Funded by Supporting People, it provides outreach and home support for people who have difficulty in obtaining or maintaining their tenancies in circumstances related to their alcohol or drug use.

Support workers can help people to:

  • Develop independent living skills, such as managing finances, healthier diet and general house maintenance.
  • Develop an awareness of the impact their behaviour can have on their communities
  • Reduce the harm their alcohol or drug use has on themselves or others

What can I expect?

People who are referred to our Home Support Service will receive a full assessment of their need. This will allow the Service Manager to provide the most suitable amount of support. In addition we can provide:

If your needs fit our referral criteria, the Service Manager will identify the amount of support required and also identify the most suitable of the available support workers to work with the Service User.

Our quality standards

As with our other services, all staff are subject to Enhanced checks with Disclosure Scotland. Our Home Support Staff will have, or will be working towards, SVQ Level III in health and Social Care. Further, all staff agree to abide by the Scottish Code of Conduct for Social Service Workers.
